The Harpoon

by Marco Leopardi

For 3000 years, in the Strait of Messina, Italy, the swordfish hunters have been hunting their prey with harpoons. Giuseppe, the last in the line of this ancient tradition. The great passion for the sea and for fishing inherited by his father is entering into conflict with a new understanding of respect and care of nature. The dilemma of Giuseppe is the dilemma of our times, between tradition and science, between past and future; it’s the eternal conflict between fathers and sons.
